The Choir
In the shadowy depths of the ocean, a mass of deep-sea creatures lurks within calcified tube structures that sprout from the rocky terrain. These eerie beings, with their combusting screams, unfurl from their tubular homes, stretching their sinuous bodies just enough to breach the surface to retrieve their next meal.
The Concepts

In my piece "The Choir," I redesigned the classic siren by replacing the fish part with the structure of a giant tube worm. These sirens aren't free-roaming but are sessile, anchored to the sea floor or rocks like barnacles. Their long stalks, however, can reach the sea surface. The only human aspect of these sirens is their upper body, which they use to lure human prey. They lack eyes due to their deep-sea habitat, where light is scarce and vision isn't necessary. This concept takes on a more animalistic approach to the classic sirens in mythology.

The Breakdown
The main focus for this piece was the creature sculpt. So I got a lot of experience with the Zbrush interface as I did my best to sculpt what the texture of a human sized tube worm plume would look like. This project require a lot of refrence collecting since i had yet to gain the artistic muscles to sculpt actual anatomical muscle for this creature.
Here are some work in progress shots in Zbrush:
